Wizardry
It is in man's basic nature to create. In religion, it is our fervent
aspiration to become like God - to emulate in whatever
small amount we can His character as well as His creative
power. In nature, our creative and constructive capacities
are some of the acknowledged separating differences between
ourselves and the rest of Earth's inhabiting species. Our
very physical existence as an assembled organism of carbon
linkages is a beacon indicating triumph over a world of
chaos.
Every person has his or her creative touch on the world. Ursula K.
Le Guin's book, A Wizard of Earth Sea, illustrates how every
one of us has a skill with which we are able
to create and give. Le Guin does not leave the reader
wanting for mystical powers, for this book explores a methaphor
for each of us to use our own wizardry - be what it may
- to enhance our own and other's lives. Embrace the portfolio
you have unwittingly created for yourself and venture to
harness these skills and become a true wizard. |
